DOG FOULING

We have had a number of letters and emails from residents regarding a previous item and our request for your views on making our Recreation Grounds and Play Parks 'DOG FREE' areas.

This is a subject that never fails to raise a few hackles and this occasion was no exception. Here are a few of the comments submitted:

'Wholeheartedly support move to ban dogs  from these areas'

'The pleasure Grounds paths, around Sturt Pond and the tracks along the beach huts, under the cliff at Hordle are all treated as toilet dumps by irresponsible dog owners'

'Name and Shame them'

'Give all the wardens cameras'

'I walk my dog at the recreation ground most days and it seems a shame that the Council are thinking of banning us'

'I know of one person whose eyesight is not good. The rec is the one place she feels safe to walk'

'Shame to take away another civil liberty'

'The recreation Ground is almost the only location that my wife (who has macular degeneration) can walk her dog'

'Make the dog walkers keep their animals on leads in these areas'

'More bins please'

The general consensus of responses was that these areas should be dog-free
